Staff Attorney has close relationships with the Country Director, Liaisons and local staff and DC-based staff on various topics. Staff Attorney is expected to provide legal support and analysis, work to develop, implement, and evaluate ABA ROLI's programs in Kazakhstan and cooperate with a variety of counterparts to facilitate implementation and monitoring of the planned activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Working with Country Director to develop and implement programs;As requested, contributing to ROLI monthly and quarterly reports, work plans, update articles and other ROLI publications;Assisting with the development of grant proposals and general business developmentAssisting in/preparing legal trainings, train-the-trainer workshops and informational/practice guides for representatives of the legal community;Monitoring Kazakhstan legal developments, including significant newsworthy items affecting the judiciary, the legislature, lawyers and human rights of the citizenry, and reporting them to Country Director;Overseeing execution of all activities under program goal and objectivesRepresenting ROLI at meetings with local partners or members of the international community;Preparing legal analyses and research for Country Director;Participating in ROLI Annual Meeting as requested, andSuch other duties as requested by the Country Director.

Skill and Educational Requirements:

Degree in Law, although Masters Degree and LLM degree may be considered in addition to the fundamental requirement of a primary law degreeExperience working with USG funded programming in the area of rule of law, judicial reform or legal reformMinimum 5 years of proven experienceSkills in program monitoring, reporting, and proposal writingExcellent writing skillsSuperior interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skillsStrong interpersonal skills and ability to work across teams to help manage and execute on key projects and prioritiesAbility to tolerate stress and maintain composure under pressureFluent in English and Russian, Kazakh is an advantage
