This posting concerns a mid-range assignment of about 20 days working for Welthungerhilfe in a freelance capacity.

Objectives and responsibilities of the position:

Your most important duties will be as follows:

To assess the involvement of women in livelihood/business activities with special focus on the skills and capacities of women

To provide concrete recommendations how to improve the participation of women in livelihood/business activities through the assessment

To assess the constraints that women face in entering and sustaining different livelihood/business sectors and provide recommendations

Your qualifications will include:

The consultant/consultant team must be independent, i.e. not associated with individual service delivery entities, as well as any platforms, NGOs and donors supporting or otherwise involved in the same project with government systems in Iraq

If a consulting team, should include the following key functions:

A team leader who is qualified and experienced in conducting assessments in development and humanitarian contexts

University level degree in economics/sociology/gender/human rights or other related subjects

Expertise in livelihoods and business development

Experience in women and gender issues

Good understanding of the context in Iraq, especially the Ninewa governorate

Experience of, and commitment to, working through systems of participation and accountability

Sound analytical skills to make observations, draw interpretations and identify lessons and recommendations

A high level of written and spoken English
