NRC Colombia is seeking a diligent and committed Education Specialist. Someone who will ensure the programmatic development and quality management of our impact from both access and quality outcomes. We are looking for someone who can inject a fresh perspective to the current education team and strengthen their skills even further. An experienced education professional who is able to manage and provide technical leadership to expanding and grow our education portfolio. The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) established operations in Colombia in 2003 and is now a well-established regional programme covering Colombia, Panama, Ecuador and Honduras. We work with internally displaced people, people in need of international protection and people fleeing violence, by providing Protection, Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance, Education, Shelter, Food & Livelihoods, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene and Emergency response. Through our programmes, we both respond to sudden onset emergencies and promote durable solutions in protracted and complex emergencies.
The Education Specialist reports to the Head of Programme.

Job descriptionDevelop Education strategy, technical guidance and Macro LFAsCompliance with and adherence to NRC policies, guidance and proceduresContribute to fundraising, develop and revise funding proposal, budgets and donor reportsIdentify trends technical standards and donor prioritiesFollow up on compliance with contractual commitments within Education, ensure high technical quality and synergies in project implementationProvide technical direction and project implementation supportEnsure that key learnings are extracted from Education implementation, and incorporate them in Education and staff development processesProvide systematic training and build capacity of technical staffRepresent NRC in relevant forums/clusters, including with national authorities and donorsPromote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategyQualificationsMinimum 4 years of experience within Education technical expertise, on senior level, area in a humanitarian/ recovery contextStrong expertise and experience in designing and developing Education in emergencies programming in durable solutionsProven fundraising and proposal writing skillsDocumented results related to the position s responsibilitiesKnowledge about own leadership skills/profileExperience from working in complex and volatile contextsFluency in English AND Spanish, both written and verbalValid driver s licenseKnowledge of the Colombian and regional humanitarian context is an assetPersonal qualitiesHandling insecure environmentsStrategic thinkingEmpowering and building trustInfluencingInitiate action and changeAnalysingA good sense of humour is an assetAll NRC employees are expected to work in accordance with the organisation s core values: dedication, innovation, inclusiveness and accountabilityLanguageSpanishEnglishWe offerCommencement As soon as possibleDuty station: Bogot , ColombiaTravel: Extensive travel to field locations in Colombia, Ecuador, Panama and HondurasDuration: 18 monthsSalary/benefits: According to NRC s general directionsGrade: 9Approved health certficate will be requested before contract start.
