IsraAID - an Israeli international humanitarian aid organization - is looking for a Water Engineer to lead and manage a project implementing drinking water supply systems Background of IsraAID s work in Vanuatu IsraAID began its operations in Vanuatu after Cyclone Pam, which struck the islands on March 14, 2015. Immense damage was caused to property, infrastructure, and agriculture, leaving many people without homes. The organization's activities initially focused on immediate assistance and support to residents of the island Tongoa in issues of trauma, clean water, farm kits, and more. Later, IsraAID s team focused on improving sustainable water infrastructure on the island while conducting psychosocial support programs across the country in collaboration with the government. During 2015 a gravitational water system was installed on the island using spring water, which supplies water to over 800 people on Tongoa. Following the success of the project, a strong relationship with the World Bank was established and they are now funding the continuance of the program. Job description: This position is under the full supervision of IsraAID s country director 1. Modification of a master plan according to terrain and community preferences 2. Managing procurement logistics; coordination and supervision over equipment transportation 3. Management and supervision of project implementation alongside the community 4. Representing IsraAID in meetings when needed (according to country director s decision) at all levels: local community, other organizations, government etc. 5. Conducting system operation and water management trainings to local community 6. Working in team under IsraAID s country director 7. Documenting progress, report writing, and communication with IsraAID s HQ in Israel 8. Conducting water assessment in neighbouring islands. Hiring Conditions: 1. Relocating to Vanuatu, living partly in Port Vila and partly in field conditions in the Island 2. Paid position 3.
