The Operations Director - will undertake a variety of project management activities including overall financial reporting and management, risk and operations management, procurement, logistical support and stakeholder management.

Specific Duties:

Project Management

Successfully implement the Farsight Africa group policies as is consistent with head contract, quality management system and annual plan requirements;

Operate as a point of contact for relevant stakeholders and HQ head office personnel on the contract and project performance and delivery;

Liaise with relevant HQ and regional head office personnel on matters relating to the Farsight s scope and delivery;

Develop/forecast and monitor the organization s budget, ensuring that expenditure and revenue is in line with financial targets; report and/or address any budgetary issues that may arise;

Take a leading role in project planning activities and the development of annual plans for the organization in consultation with relevant stakeholders and head office personnel;

Be responsible for the development and delivery of all contractual and financial reports within contracted timeframes; participate in the development of complex technical reports as required;

Liaise with relevant head office personnel regarding all matters of human resources, finance, quality and contractual matters;

Develop, review and ensure implementation and compliance with all approved company procedures;

Manage and address any issues of risk management in collaboration with relevant head office personnel;

Oversee the grants management function for the organization, including managing the development and maintenance of a grants management framework and associated processes and

systems;

Undertake other activities as required.

Team Management

Create and maintain a positive, supportive and team focused work environment within the team, and organization;

Manage the day-to-day project operations and undertakings of the company.

Establish collegial relationships with key in-country personnel as facilitated by regular communications, meetings, workshops and information sharing.

Stakeholder Management

Develop and maintain positive professional relationships with key stakeholders, including, and other key agencies and donors as required; and

Develop and maintain positive and supportive professional relationships with personnel, including the operational staff.

Key Selection Criteria (KSC):

The ideal applicant will have:

Minimum 7-10 years project management and organizational development experience working within a services environment or a developing country context providing support to overseas/in-country operations, within the NGO s and development sector.

Demonstrated strong understanding of all aspects of project management as gained within private, NGO and development sector context, including financial management, Operations management and contracts management.

Excellent organization skills with demonstrated experience in developing and implementing project and annual plans.

Well-developed interpersonal, communication and stakeholder liaison skills with a demonstrated ability to produce high quality reports.

Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain complex stakeholder relationships, including the ability to work with diverse teams and cultures.

Demonstrated ability to operate in a challenging and dynamic organization, and to adjust to changing conditions.

Master s degree in organizational development or a related discipline are desirable.
