The King s Sierra Leone Partnership (KSLP) is a long-term capacity building partnership between King s Health Partners in London and key partner institutions in Sierra Leone. KSLP aims to help strengthen Sierra Leone s health system by improving training, clinical services, policy and research. Key partners include University of Sierra Leone Teaching Hospitals Complex Connaught Hospital (USLTHC), the College of Medicine & Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS) and the Ministry of Health & Sanitation (MOHS).

KSLP are seeking a motivated individual to support the development of USLTHC policy and human resource systems. The position will be based at USLTHC- Connaught Hospital. The work will entail close liaison between the USLTHC Board and the MoHS, leading stakeholder workshops and small group meetings to develop the human resource planning and a transition plan for workforce autonomy from the MoHS.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a new institution dedicated to improving healthcare in Sierra Leone. The role suits a motivated individual with an understanding of health systems and delivering organisational change.

The Role

Support to USLTHC leadership team Close liaison and support to the Deputy Director of Human Resource at USLTHC Developing workforce planning at USLTHC, and supporting partners to implement performance management and appraisal structures Development and finalisation of the workforce Transition Plan Support to USLTHC management processes, including attending departmental and hospital management meetings

Person Specification

Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in relevant area. Postgraduate qualification is desirableExperience: Experience delivering organisational change, formulating policy, working with health systems reform or health workforcePersonal Characteristics: Flexible, committed and effective in small teams

Support provided to Volunteers

This is a 6 month fundedfellowship position, with possible extension to one year, the post holder will be provided with:

Return flights to and from initial post, plus one paid leave flight to and from Freetown for every six months in post 500 monthly stipend for living expenses, paid in local currency Multi-entry visa, residency permit & professional registration Vaccinations & antimalarials Insurance Accommodation in a shared KSLP house
