The Financial Management and Administration Centre (FMAC) in UNICEF Supply Division, Copenhagen is currently recruiting an:
ACCOUNTS ASSISTANT (GS-5 level)
Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager in the Procurement Services Accounting Unit (PSAU), the Accounts Assistant (post # 13020) will be performing the below accounting functions:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES, DUTIES & TASKS:1.Performs financial accounting and analysis for the Unit. Processes, reviews and analyzes the SAP transactions and payments and account balances for area of responsibility, and identifies and initiates required adjustments.
2.Creates, reviews and maintains master data in SAP relating to areas of responsibility. Establishes budget planning limitations in SAP and prepares budget revisions. Monitors project accounts to ensure compliance with financial limitations.
3.Prepares financial reports for internal management and external donors and other third parties. Prepares exception and/or periodic reports, statements, schedules summaries analysis. Prepares documentation and work papers relating to areas of responsibility.
4.Maintains data in Excel spreadsheets and Access databases to support the monitoring of special projects.
5.Monitors and ensures systems and reports comply with UNICEF's Financial Rules and Regulations, and third party requirements.
6.Identifies and recommends system and process improvements identified during performance of duties and responsibilities.
7.Performs other ad hoc tasks in related areas as required and provides back up support to colleagues within the respective unit.
QUALIFICATIONS OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:
Required:Secondary school, including courses in accounting from a recognized commercial school. Five years of general and successful accounting experience, preferably in an international/ governmental (non-profit) organization Proficiency in a computerized accounting application system Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel Fluency in English Valid working permit and residency in Denmark
Desired:Working experience with project accounting or grant management Working experience with procurement Proficiency in SAP Proficiency in another UN working language (Russian, Chinese, Spanish, Arabic)
