The *forum*ZFD is a project management and training organisation both in Germany and abroad. Along with its members, it advocates the renunciation of politics based on violence, for the enhancement of civil means both at the state level and in the society and for democratic participation of all social, ethnic and religious groups.

At present, the forumZFDis engaged in 14 locations in Germany, the Middle East, the Western Balkans, Ukraine and in South East Asia, involving a staff of over 80 persons. Its head office, based in Cologne, has a staff of more than 25 who shape the project work both in Germany and abroad, the work of the Academy for Conflict Transformation as well as public relations, lobbying and education. **

Tasks and responsibilities

Planning, implementing, further developing and monitoring the effect of the programme component Dealing with the Past measures in Lebanon

Organising the cooperation with partners of workshops, training courses and other activities regarding the implementation of the programme component Dealing with the Past

Attending multipliers etc. when using a collection of material (Memory of War) for the purpose of preparing workshops and lessons in cooperation with our local partners

Supporting the development of teaching aids (manuals) and publications; raising awareness among the public for the necessity of a national curriculum for the most recent history in Lebanon

Supporting networking of local NGOs and other participants (from science, politics, etc.) in the working field Dealing with the Past in a non-biased manner

Developing content and concepts of the programme component Dealing with the Past further. This includes, for instance, identifying new target groups that are involved in a dialogue about the civil war and more recent history and address the effects of the history on current conflicts in Lebanon

Knowledge and financial management. Preparing and implementing an effect-oriented PM&E and safeguarding reporting of the programme component Dealing with the Past

Contributing to the presentation of project activities with a publicity effect and supporting the further development of the public relations concept (in Lebanon as well as in Germany)

Your profile

Completed vocational qualifications and/or university degree (social studies/political studies/Islamic studies or a similar field)

International position

Professional experience with civil peace service and/or development assistance

Knowledge of methods of non-violent/civil conflict resolution, especially in dialogue

Open-minded to systemic labour approaches

Experience in the Dealing with the Past/Transitional Justice field, especially in the culture of remembrance

Experience in consulting civil society and/or public institutions

Preferably experience in cooperation with political actors such as political parties, staff of ministries and local authorities

Hands-on experience in associations or NGOs or commitment in civil society

Know-how in designing concepts for training courses, workshops, seminars and other events

Distinct ability to think strategically and conceptually, and to develop projects

Proven experience in project management, financial management and personnel guidance

Experience in (further) developing concepts of projects and programmes

Preferably experience in filing applications, developing applications and fundraising

Preferably experience in advocacy and networking

A high level of social skills, ability to work in a team and intercultural sensitivity for working and living in a complex society, profound knowledge of the political situation in Lebanon and preferably several years of experience in living abroad in the Middle East

Strong ability to work under physical and psychological pressure and to quickly grasp things for daily project life

Ability to flexibly react to changes in your own working environment

Excellent written and spoken command of English (negotiation level / project language) and preferably good command of Arabic

High competency in using IT applications, driving licence and driving experience

We offer

We offer you a thrilling position of responsibility in a committed and growing organisation. The salary is based on the German Act on Development Aid Workers (EhfG) including comprehensive social security and financial reintegration allowance upon return. We also offer you to participate in qualification and further education courses, inter alia at the Academy for Conflict Transformation in forumZFD, as well as project-related preparation, work-based coaching and, if necessary, a language course.

You will be directly assigned to the Project Management in Lebanon and will contribute with your ideas and skills in an office with a team of 12.

Your assignment will start, if possible, 15 March 2017 (preparation period followed by a minimum of two years in the programme with the option of an extension).
