Position Overview:

As CHAI Malawi seeks to continue its support to the Ministry of Health s (MOH) efforts to provide high quality HIV diagnostics to Malawians the office is looking for a Program Officer, Diagnostics to lead a diverse set of activities designed to increase access to Early Infant Diagnosis (EID), Viral Load Testing (VLT) and linkage to second-line treatment for people living with HIV in Malawi. The Program Officer will work on devising and implementing innovative strategies for scaling-up testing and monitoring programs, which include EID and VLT for patients who are on ART. The Program Officerwill report directly to the Program Manager, Diagnostics.

Responsibilities:

Conduct various analyses of bottlenecks and challenges with testing uptake and linkage to adherence counseling and second line treatment, recommend solutions to MOH, and support implementation of these solutions Organize trainings for pilot studies and scale up of EID and VLT Point-Of-Care (POC) testing to ensure highest quality of trained personnel Coordinate mentorship activities for sites that use POC devices Attend policy meetings and prepare program update presentations for MOH and partners Advise MOH impartially on policy and technological issues relating to VLT, linkage to treatment, POC, and other diagnostics in general Coordinate quality assurance activities for both conventional and POC technologies for EID and VLT Support resource mobilization efforts for VLT scale up, POC, and other diagnostics for Malawi

Desired Skills and Experience:

Bachelor s degree plus one to two years of work experience* Excellent written and oral communications skills* Strong quantitative capacity, problem solving skills, and analytical capabilities* High level of proficiency in relevant computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Detail-oriented with strong organization skills Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and work independently and flexibly with a strong commitment to excellence Ability to be effective in high-pressure situations and work in a fast-paced environment with limited-structural support Ability to maintain strong relationships with a variety of people and organizations, including but not limited to high-level MOH officials, district health officers, laboratory professionals, partner NGO s staff, and fellow CHAI employees
