Position Overview:

The Program Officerwill help to develop, improve, and expand the organization s positive impact on underserved communities by increasing the efficacy of the health programs of FCDE s community partners in Uganda. The Program Officer will be responsible for technically supporting local organizations to deliver quality services through planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs and projects focusing on health and HIV/AIDS programs.


Key result areas

Design and Implementation- Work with FCDE partner organizations to design and implement innovative health and HIV/AIDS programs and projects in line with new trends in the field Monitoring and Evaluation- Help partners design and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks (including reporting and delivery) to track impact of set goals, objectives and indicators for programs and projects Fund Mobilization- Assist partner organizations to increase their capacity for fundraising through grant writing, marketing, and sustainability planning

Roles and responsibilities

Conduct assessments of partner organizations to identify gaps in programmatic design and management of innovative programs/projects focused on health and HIV/AIDS Research and disseminate information to partners on new trends of health and HIV/AIDS issues; be an advocate for creative solutions and new ideas in the field Provide training and mentorship to partner organizations in the areas of designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating health programs/projects in relation to new trends; this includes developing project log frames, setting realistic goals, objectives and indicators, designing tools for data collection, data analysis, and interpreting and generating reports from the analyzed data Support partner organization s fundraising efforts through identification of potential funders, writing quality proposals, and marketing their stories

Desired Skills and Experience:

Bachelor s degree* Interest in organizational capacity building, especially in rural communities* Knowledge of new trends in health and HIV/AIDS issues, or strong interest in learning about them* Ability to work in a team environment with self-sufficiency and self-motivation* Experience with project planning and management, including monitoring and evaluation* Experience with proposal writing* Ability to undertake regular field visits to rural communities* Experience with advocacy Training and facilitation skills; comfortable with public speaking Experience in partnership development The ability to get things done and come in with an open mind, new ideas, and a passion for global health
