Position Overview:

The Youth and Adolescent Health Officerwill champion the design and delivery of youth and adolescent interventions, which includes family planning and reproductive health; HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment services; and internship placements. The fellow will lead and develop innovative, evidence-based programs to support youth and adolescents living with HIV/AIDS. The fellow will ensure integration of interventions during planning and implementation of services, create awareness and generate demand for related services, and ensure constant monitoring and leveraging of designed interventions to ensure program success.


Technical Assistance

Design strategies that will integrate youth and adolescent health interventions to improve outcomes of family planning and reproductive health, HIV prevention services and access to treatment and care Lead the technical design of interventions, including development of technical tools; leverage staff and other key stakeholders at all stages of project implementation Provide technical support to program teams, district health teams, CBOs and other partners on matters of family planning/reproductive health, care and treatment, and continuum of access to services by youth and adolescents Provide technical guidance during the development of annual work plan around all planning and budgeting activities, especially in regard to youth and adolescent health Coordinate technical reporting according to defined reporting schedule; write regular monitoring and technical reports as required


Assist in identifying, documenting, disseminating and scaling up best practices in youth and adolescent health interventions and regular monitoring and technical reports as required Design communication strategies to drive behavioral change in the community Facilitate the development of a communications campaign focused on generating demand for services around HIV/AIDS, family planning, and reproductive health capacity building and support Identify institutional capacity building opportunities for partners and staff and develop training materials to build capacity in identified areas Offer mentorship and supervision to counselors and counselor supervisors within EGPAF Represent EGPAF and the project in the supported districts and at the national level

Desired Skills and Experience:
Items indicated with an asterisk (*) are required

Bachelor s degree in social science, social work, public health, or a related field* At least three years experience working with adolescents/youths Experience in management and coordination of adolescent/youth sexual reproductive health interventions, preferably with an international non-governmental organization Knowledge of adolescent sexual reproductive health policies and strategies Knowledge of pediatric HIV Additional training at post-graduate level and experience managing reproductive health programs is of added advantage
