Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Senior Adviser for Research, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (STA RMEL), the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist will work on issues related to quality assurance, data analysis, presentation, dissemination, and quality improvement. The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist will work out of the One Community headquarters office in Blantyre, Malawi, and travel frequently to seven districts across southern Malawi to support project activities. The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist will work closely with the STA RMEL, Documentation and Knowledge Management Officer, Monitoring and Evaluation Officers, and Data Clerks to ensure high quality data collection, transform collected data into compelling visuals, graphics, presentations, and reports, and improve the quality of data collection and support learning.

The Monitoring and Evaluation Specialistwill work with data collected through One Community s paper and digital referral systems, the project s activity monitoring system, as well as formative qualitative research data.


Quality Assurance

Build on existing One Community quality assurance standards to ensure validity, integrity, precision, reliability, and timeliness of One Community data Travel to district offices to assess and ensure compliance with Quality Assurance procedures and data assessments Develop plans for data quality improvement and work with district Monitoring and Evaluation officers to strategize on implementation Ensure proper storage and cataloguing of data at the district offices

Data Analysis and Presentation

Work with the STA RMEL to identify key findings from One Community monitoring data Conduct sub-analysis of data by sub-populations, district, and health facility catchment area to capture nuance of One Community program implementation Work with the Documentation and Knowledge Management officer (DKMO) to develop visual representations of the aforementioned findings to be included in communication and dissemination materials Develop dissemination plan for key messages by target audience (with DKMO)

Quality Improvement

Develop plan for use of program data for continuous learning (for central and district staff and government partners) and program quality improvement Identify key quality improvement learnings for each target audience and share these messages in a tailored and appropriate way Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Desired Skills and Experience:
Items indicated with an asterisk (*) are required

Bachelor s degree in social sciences, public health, statistics, or related field Preferred: Master s degree in above fields Excellence in excel and proficiency with statistical software (SPSS, STATA) as well as familiarity with basic statistical tests and concepts Three years of experience working in data management, data analysis, and/or quality improvement/quality assurance Ability to visually present findings from program monitoring data in a compelling and accessible format Excellent skills speaking and writing in English
